Ceremony: Program

A Ceremony to launch QUT's Reconciliation Statement

QUT Chancellor Dr Cherrell Hirst officially launched the University's Reconciliation Statement on May 30, 2001 at a ceremony attended by staff, students and representatives of Queensland’s Indigenous community.

The ceremony, held during Reconciliation Week, at Old Government House. It included:

  • presentation of a signed copy of the statement to Indigenous leaders
  • dances by students from the Murri School
  • presentation of message sticks to University representatives, and
  • handprint 'signing' of QUT’s Reconciliation canvas by participants.
