Statement

[Print-friendly version]

QUT Council adopted a Reconciliation Statement as University policy on February 16, 2001. The Reconciliation Statement commits QUT to sustainable reconciliation between Indigenous (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples) and non-Indigenous Australian people. The statement recognises the particular responsibility of educational institutions to redress disadvantage and to overcome prejudice.

Read the statement online in the MOPP (A/8.3) or print this pdf version.

Reconciliation Launch 2001

The Reconciliation Statement was officially launched at a ceremony during Reconciliation Week in May 2001. Click here to see the background to the statement launch. The official ceremony including the creation of QUT's Reconciliation Canvas and the presentation of message sticks as part of the memorandum of understanding between QUT and the local Indigneous community.

Implementation

Implementing the policy will require a long-term commitment to Reconciliation strategies across the University.
